How we work

byStudents works to improve student life for all students in Copenhagen. We do this by working with communities, engagement, and city life.

For students, by students

Students are the core of byStudents. Our board consists of students, all our projects are developed in collaboration with students, and it is students who provide input and meaning to everything we do.

We believe that the quality of students’ lives can be improved if everyone has access to meaningful communities, can find relevant opportunities to engage with the world around them, and when the city they live in welcomes all students – both newcomers and those who have been here for a long time.

All students deserve a student life where there is a balance between studies and leisure. The opportunities for engagement and participation naturally change when students experience high demands. All initiatives at byStudents are made with input from students themselves. In this way, we ensure that everything we do is relevant and meaningful to as many students as possible.

Who can participate?

byStudents is for all students in Copenhagen regardless of their educational institution, expertise, and interests. We offer the opportunity to be part of a community regardless of the students’ needs.

We are an organization of students for students. This shines through in everything from our board, which consists of students, to the most niche volunteer activities planned by dedicated students. All with support from an experienced and professionally competent administration.

Volunteering is essential in byStudents. Our three focus areas – community, engagement, and city life – all start from what students want to work for and with. Our experience with youth and volunteerism comes from many years of successful work at Studenterhuset. Therefore, this knowledge and experience are also byStudents’ approach to new projects, initiatives, and the development of offerings for students.

Community

We work for strong, inclusive, flexible, and voluntary communities among students. The communities are defined by the students’ own desire and initiative. We support and set the framework for communities that can improve student life.

Communities can take many formats, and we believe that all students across interests, needs, expertise, and engagement should have access to a relevant community.

Engagement

We work to strengthen students’ voluntary engagement both in their own student lives and as a resource for the world around them.

It is often through engagement that you find meaningful relationships and communities. Here you have the chance to meet others who share your interests and desire to make a difference.

Students’ lives consist largely of great variability. We believe that it should be possible for all students to engage in a meaningful community or cause. Therefore, we offer both the very short and less binding opportunities to engage and the long and more binding ones.

City Life

We work to make Copenhagen an even better city to be a student in. The students’ own engagement in the development of their study city is the starting point for this effort.

We believe that students are a great resource in relation to the development of Copenhagen as a study city. Therefore, we would like to both create more offerings for the benefit of the students, but also ensure that students can function as a resource in the city’s associations, volunteerism, and other relevant areas.
