KU Festival is an annual one-day festival that brings together students and staff at the University of Copenhagen in a festive atmosphere. In collaboration between the University of Copenhagen, the Student Council at KU, and byStudents, we plan and execute a day filled with music, academia, and coziness at Nørre Campus.
With more than 250 students and staff as volunteers, the festival is driven by the community. Universitetsparken is transformed into a lively festival area with stages, bars, and food stalls, usually attracting 12-16,000 KU students and staff.
Admission is free for everyone at KU.
The festival program of the year, including concerts, debates, pop-up activities, sports, and much more, is continuously updated on kufestival.dk.
The University of Copenhagen is spread over almost 1 million square meters of buildings and many neighborhoods. The purpose of KU Festival is to bring together the many different disciplines and work areas across campus areas and fields of study.
It is important to us that we also work sustainably at the festival. Therefore, over the past years, we have phased out diesel generators and increased the selection of vegetarian and vegan food options.
The festival’s volunteers also operate a deposit system for single-use plastic cups, and many choose to reuse their “vintage” volunteer t-shirt or return this year’s t-shirt to be washed and reused at next year’s festival.
